Questions

What people ask us

How much does tree removal cost?

Typical U.S. prices run from a few hundred dollars for a small tree to several thousand for a tall one near a house. Size, location, power lines and cleanup all change the price. Say a tree sits over a roof: that costs more than one in an open yard. Always ask for a written quote.

Does homeowners insurance cover tree removal?

It depends on your policy. Some policies may cover sudden damage, such as a tree that falls on a house during a storm. Removing a tree that has not caused damage is often not covered. Check your policy or ask your insurer. Providers can often help document damage for a claim with photos and notes.

What should I expect on the day of the job?

Say a crew arrives in the morning. The provider usually walks the yard first, marks the drop zone and sets up gear. Then they cut the tree in sections or fell it whole. Cleanup comes last. Keep kids and pets indoors. Ask your provider how long the job should take.

Can I remove a tree myself?

You can help with small jobs, like clearing the yard or raking up leaves. Cutting a large tree is different. Falling limbs, tension in the wood and nearby wires cause serious injuries. Look up first. If the tree is taller than you can safely reach, hire a pro.

How do I prevent tree trouble before storm season?

Walk your yard in spring. Look for dead limbs, leaning trunks, mushrooms at the base and branches over the roof. Humid weather can speed up rot. Have a provider check anything that worries you before hurricane season starts. Trimming early is often easier than emergency work later.

Is an older house harder to work around?

Often, yes. Older house, extra care. Aging roofs, past repairs and old pipes or drain lines near roots can hide surprises. Tell the provider about any patched areas or old repairs. Roots may also have grown into a slab or pipe, which changes how the tree should come out.

Do I need to remove the stump too?

Not always, but a stump can attract pests, trip people and send up new shoots. Stump grinding chops it below ground level. It is often priced separately from removal, so ask for both on the quote. Some homeowners grind right away, while others wait.

What happens after I request an estimate?

You share a few details about the tree and your yard. A local provider in our network may contact you to talk through the job and set up a visit. You get a written quote to review. There is no obligation to say yes, so take your time.
